Terms of use

By using SmartCompare, you agree to these terms. They’re short, and written to be read.

Information, not advice

SmartCompare gives general information to help you compare mobile plans. It isn’t personal advice. Our SmartScores, picks and plan finder results are worked out from plan details using the method we publish, and the right plan for you depends on things only you know.

Check before you sign up

We take plan details from each provider’s own website and show when we last checked them. Providers change prices, allowances and terms often, so details here can be out of date or incomplete. The provider’s own website and terms are what count, so always confirm them before you sign up. If you spot a mistake, email hello@smartcompare.co.nz and we’ll fix it.

What we cover

We compare SIM-only plans from the providers listed on our site. We don’t cover every provider or every plan in New Zealand, and we don’t cover plans bundled with a phone.

Providers and other websites

SmartCompare isn’t a mobile provider and doesn’t sell plans. When you sign up, your agreement is with the provider. We aren’t responsible for their services, websites or customer service. We may earn a commission when you sign up through our links, as explained in how we make money.

Trademarks

Provider names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify their plans. Showing them doesn’t mean a provider endorses SmartCompare, or that we’re connected with them.

Using our content

You’re welcome to link to any page and quote small parts with a link back. Please don’t copy our data or pages in bulk, or scrape the site, without asking us first.

Liability

We work hard to keep SmartCompare accurate, but we provide it “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss from using the site or relying on its information. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those rights can’t be excluded.

Changes and law

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page applies. New Zealand law governs them. Last updated 12 October 2026.
